Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse feedback from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
