Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
